ARE Ph.D. students play a crucial teaching and mentoring role in the DIRECT program and their commitment to equity and inclusion will carry forward as they join the professoriate.
DIRECT co-directors Kristin Kiesel and Steve Boucher, in collaboration with the UC Davis Feminist Research Institute and the Center for Educational Effectiveness at UC Davis, designed a modular training program available to interested Ph.D. students and faculty. The Graduate Inclusive Education and Mentoring Training (GET) invites participants to critically reflect on the complex roles of race and structural inequality in research, teaching, and mentorship within the field of economics.
ARE Ph.D. students who complete the GET training are eligible to apply for paid teaching and mentoring positions in the DIRECT program.
